What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial aims to evaluate the effects of creatine and tyrosol, both individually and combined, on exercise performance and brain function. Participants will be divided into groups to test creatine (a dietary supplement), a placebo, or both creatine and tyrosol (a natural compound). Researchers will assess endurance, strength, and mental sharpness before and after an 8-week period. Healthy men who exercise regularly and can maintain their current workout and diet routine may be suitable for this study. As an unphased trial, this study provides participants the chance to contribute to foundational research that could enhance exercise and cognitive performance.

Is there any evidence suggesting that this trial's treatments are likely to be safe?

A previous study demonstrated that creatine monohydrate is very safe. A review of 685 clinical trials found no major safety concerns, indicating that creatine is generally well-tolerated with no significant side effects reported.

Regarding tyrosol, less safety information is available. However, studies using tyrosol with creatine found no harmful interactions. This suggests it might be safe to use with creatine, although further research could confirm this.

Overall, creatine has a strong safety record, while tyrosol appears safe when used with creatine, based on current information.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial's treatments?

Researchers are excited about combining Tyrosol and Creatine because it offers a fresh approach to boosting both exercise performance and cognitive function. Unlike standard supplements that typically focus on either physical or mental enhancements separately, this combination targets both areas simultaneously. Tyrosol, a natural antioxidant, may enhance brain health and protect against oxidative stress, while Creatine Monohydrate is well-known for improving muscle energy and strength. Together, they might offer a dual benefit that current options don't provide.

What evidence suggests that this trial's treatments could be effective for exercise performance and cognition?

Studies have shown that creatine can improve both physical and mental performance. It can increase muscle strength and endurance while reducing mental fatigue. Research indicates that creatine enhances strength in exercises like squats and leg presses. It also aids memory and decision-making, crucial for clear thinking. Tyrosol is known for reducing inflammation and protecting the brain, but less evidence exists regarding its impact on exercise performance. In this trial, participants will receive either a combination of Tyrosol and Creatine, Creatine with a placebo, or a placebo with another placebo. The researchers are studying these substances for their potential to enhance both exercise and mental abilities.678910

What Are the Treatments Tested in This Trial?

Interventions

  • Creatine Monohydrate
  • Tyrosol

Trial Overview

The study tests the effects of creatine alone, creatine plus tyrosol, and a placebo (resistant dextrin) on exercise performance and thinking skills over 8 weeks. It uses a randomized, double-blind design where neither participants nor researchers know which group anyone is in.
