YB-101 for Graves' Disease
What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
This trial tests a new treatment called YB-101 for Graves' Disease, which affects thyroid function. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness, safety, and tolerability of YB-101 when injected under the skin. Individuals with Graves' Disease who have thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor antibodies (a specific disease marker) and have not undergone certain treatments like radioactive iodine may qualify. Participants will attend a series of clinic visits over approximately 40 weeks to receive either the treatment or a placebo. As a Phase 2 trial, the research focuses on assessing the treatment's effectiveness in an initial, smaller group of people.
Do I have to stop taking my current medications for the trial?
The trial requires that you have not taken levothyroxine, desiccated thyroid extract, or T3 within 6 weeks before screening, and you should not be currently treated with teprotumumab or have been exposed to it within 15 weeks prior to screening.
Is there any evidence suggesting that YB-101 is likely to be safe for humans?
Previous studies have shown YB-101 to be safe. Research indicates that most patients can use it without problems. YB-101 has been tested for its effects on Graves' Disease and Thyroid Eye Disease, demonstrating quick action and causing only minor side effects for most people. Although studies continue, the evidence so far suggests that YB-101 is safe for humans.12345
Why do researchers think this study treatment might be promising?
Most treatments for Graves' Disease, like antithyroid medications, radioactive iodine therapy, or surgery, aim to reduce thyroid hormone production or eliminate overactive thyroid tissue. But YB-101 works differently, targeting the autoimmune component of the disease. Researchers are excited about YB-101 because it is administered via subcutaneous injection, offering a potentially more convenient and less invasive option compared to current therapies. This novel approach could provide a new way to manage Graves' Disease with fewer side effects and improved patient outcomes.
What evidence suggests that YB-101 might be an effective treatment for Graves' Disease?
Research has shown that YB-101 works by blocking a specific signal that causes Graves' disease. Early results suggest that YB-101 can quickly halt the disease and might be more effective and safer than current treatments. In this trial, participants will receive either YB-101 or a placebo to study its effects on thyroid function, which is crucial for managing Graves' disease. Although the researchers are still collecting all the clinical data, the treatment appears promising in addressing the root cause of the symptoms.23567
Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?
This trial is for adults diagnosed with Graves' disease (a type of hyperthyroidism) who meet specific health requirements. People cannot join if they have certain other medical conditions or do not meet the study's safety guidelines.Inclusion Criteria
