What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial explores how hemp-derived minor cannabinoids can alleviate menopause and perimenopause symptoms. Participants will be divided into two groups: one will receive a placebo (a treatment with no active ingredients), and the other will receive an active hemp-derived product. This trial may suit individuals designated female at birth, aged 40-60, who are experiencing menopause or perimenopause symptoms without regular cannabis use. As a Phase 2 trial, the research focuses on assessing the treatment's effectiveness in an initial, smaller group, providing participants an opportunity to contribute to significant findings.

Will I have to stop taking my current medications?

The trial requires that you have not changed your medications in the past 3 months and excludes those taking anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, or antipsychotic medications. If you are on other medications, you may not need to stop them, but you should confirm with the trial coordinators.

Is there any evidence suggesting that hemp-derived cannabinoids are likely to be safe for humans?

Research has shown that hemp-derived cannabinoids might help with menopause symptoms. In one study, 74% of women using cannabis found it helpful for these issues, suggesting many women can use it without problems.

Pure CBD, a type of cannabinoid, is generally considered safe for most people based on current information. However, long-term studies have not yet fully confirmed its safety over time. This study is a phase 2 trial, indicating the treatment has shown some safety in earlier research. Researchers continue to study it to learn more about its overall safety and effectiveness.12345

Why do researchers think this study treatment might be promising?

Unlike the standard treatments for menopause, which often include hormone replacement therapy or antidepressants, the hemp-derived cannabinoid treatment offers a natural alternative. Researchers are excited about these cannabinoids because they may interact with the body's endocannabinoid system, potentially offering symptom relief without the side effects associated with traditional hormonal treatments. Additionally, cannabinoids have anti-inflammatory properties, which could address menopause-related discomfort in a novel way. This new approach could provide a safer, more holistic option for managing menopause symptoms.

What evidence suggests that hemp-derived cannabinoids might be an effective treatment for menopause?

Research has shown that hemp-based compounds might help with menopause symptoms. In one survey, 74% of women using cannabis reported relief from menopause issues like hot flashes and sleep problems. In this trial, participants in the active arm will receive hemp-derived cannabinoids to further evaluate their effectiveness. Although more studies are needed, these early findings are promising and suggest that these compounds could be a helpful option for managing menopause.12367

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for women experiencing menopause or perimenopause symptoms. It's not specified who can't join, but typically people with certain health conditions or those taking medications that could interfere with the study might be excluded.
