What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial tests a new device, the xDot Access Management System (AMS), to ensure its safety and effectiveness in closing large holes in blood vessels, specifically in the upper leg (femoral area) after certain medical procedures. It targets individuals undergoing routine procedures with large instruments in the groin area, such as heart valve repairs or blood vessel treatments. Ideal candidates for this trial are those planning such procedures and having blood vessels in the thigh area that meet specific size and health criteria.

As an unphased trial, participants can contribute to the development of innovative medical solutions.

What prior data suggests that the xDot Access Management System is safe for vascular closure?

Research has shown that the xDot Access Management System (AMS) was safe in earlier studies. Researchers tested it for closing large access points in a major leg artery. These studies aimed to prove the system's safety and effectiveness. The device also received special approval from the FDA for further testing, indicating confidence in its safety.

Although the device remains under study and is not yet for sale, trials have found no major safety problems. While more research is needed, early results suggest it is well-tolerated, with no significant harmful effects reported so far.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Most vascular closure treatments typically rely on manual compression or devices that use collagen plugs to seal vessels. However, the xDot Access Management System (AMS) is unique because it offers a more automated and precise approach to vascular closure. Researchers are excited about this system because it aims to reduce healing time and potential complications by providing a more efficient closure process. This innovative method could significantly improve patient comfort and outcomes by minimizing the risk of bleeding and other complications commonly associated with traditional closure techniques.

What evidence suggests that the xDot Access Management System is effective for vascular closure?

Research has shown that the xDot Access Management System (AMS), which participants in this trial will receive, effectively closes large blood vessel access points. Studies have found that xDot AMS quickly closes these sites, reducing the risk of complications. For example, one study demonstrated that the system can stop bleeding quickly and effectively. Another study confirmed that xDot AMS performs well even in challenging situations, such as when blood vessels are hardened. These findings suggest xDot AMS could be a reliable option for closing blood vessels.12346
