Vira Platform for Opioid Use Disorder

This trial tests a digital health platform designed to help individuals with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) adhere to their treatment. The platform, called Vira, works alongside medications like buprenorphine or methadone to determine if it improves recovery outcomes. Participants will receive support from peer recovery specialists through the app. The trial seeks individuals with OUD who have recently started or restarted treatment with these medications and have access to a smartphone.

As an unphased trial, this study provides a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative research that could enhance recovery support for many.

Research has shown that digital tools like the Vira Platform can effectively manage opioid use disorder (OUD). Studies have found that these online tools perform as well as traditional in-person care. They are generally user-friendly, with few reports of negative side effects.

Most treatments for opioid use disorder, like methadone and buprenorphine, work by activating opioid receptors to help manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings.
