Inclusion Criteria

Ability to undergo a reliable neurologic examination and pain assessments
I have had a long spinal fusion surgery from L2 to my pelvis or C2 to T2.

Exclusion Criteria

Sustained bradycardia or presence of pacemaker
History of substance abuse
I have not had spinal surgery in the last 6 months.

Screening

Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial

Participants receive auricular vagal nerve stimulation twice on the day of surgery and twice daily during their postoperative hospital admission
