What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
This is a proof-of-concept study exploring individual differences in sensitivity to alcohol among older healthy current drinkers aged 65 to 80. Participants will complete two sessions during which they will complete questionnaires and laboratory measures of mental abilities and brain activity and receive a beverage that may or may not contain a moderate dose of alcohol.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?
This trial is for healthy adults aged 65 to 80 who currently drink alcohol. Participants should not have any major health issues that would prevent safe participation.Inclusion Criteria

Screening
Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial
Treatment
Participants complete two laboratory sessions with beverages that may or may not contain alcohol
Follow-up
Participants are monitored for differences in psychomotor skills, working memory, and neural activity under alcohol vs placebo conditions
What Are the Treatments Tested in This Trial?
Trial Overview
The study tests how older adults react to a moderate dose of alcohol compared to a placebo (a non-alcoholic drink). Each participant attends two sessions and completes mental and brain activity tests after drinking either beverage.
