What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

The goal of this study is to scientifically evaluate the efficacy of this oil pulling oral rinse in reducing dental plaque, gingival inflammation, gingival bleeding, and selectively reducing caries- and periodontal disease-associated bacteria compared to a marketed mouthwash and a placebo oral rinse

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for adults in generally good health who may have gum disease, gingivitis, or dental plaque. People with certain medical conditions or those not meeting the study's health requirements cannot participate.

Inclusion Criteria

Subjects should be willing to comply with the study procedure and schedule, including follow-up visits
Subjects should understand the information about the investigative nature of the treatment, possible benefits and side effects and sign the Informed Consent Form
Baseline gingival inflammation (MGI) score of at least 1.80

Exclusion Criteria

Pregnant or nursing by subject report
Known allergic reaction to any of the study mouthwashes or any of their components
Subjects that do not brush regularly

Timeline for a Trial Participant

Screening

Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial

2-4 weeks

Treatment

Participants use assigned mouthwash as an adjunct oral hygiene product for 8 weeks

8 weeks
3 visits (in-person) at baseline, 4 weeks, and 8 weeks

Follow-up

Participants are monitored for safety and effectiveness after treatment

4 weeks

Trial Overview

The study compares three mouthwashes: GuruNanda natural oil pulling rinse, TheraBreath Plaque Control rinse, and a water-based non-whitening placebo. The goal is to see which works best at reducing dental plaque and gum problems.
