What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
This is an interventional study that will evaluate the feasibility, implementation, and efficacy of an online, 12-week, plant-based, nutrition education program in a community setting. Participants will meet with a physician and a registered dietitian once a week to learn about a plant-based diet and receive support and practical help in making the dietary changes. Body composition, blood sugar control, cholesterol levels, and food costs will be measured at the start and end of the study.
Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?
This trial is for adults with a BMI of 25 or higher (23+ for Asian participants) who are overweight or have type 2 diabetes. Participants must speak English, have internet access, be able to travel to Washington DC for scans, and complete lab tests before and after the program.Inclusion Criteria

Trial Overview
The study tests a low-fat vegan diet taught through an online, 12-week nutrition education program. Participants get weekly support from a doctor and dietitian. The effects on weight, blood sugar, cholesterol, and food costs will be measured.
