What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial seeks to determine the most effective way to deliver parent-education programs to enhance parenting and child wellbeing. It compares two methods: an online-only approach and a hybrid approach that combines online learning with group meetings. The trial seeks U.S. Air Force service members or dependents who are caregivers of a child aged 0-18 years and have access to technology for participating in the Thrive Initiative Parent-Education Programming. Researchers will randomly assign participants to either the online-only or hybrid method to evaluate which is more effective. As an unphased trial, this study offers a unique opportunity to contribute to research that could improve parenting resources for military families.

Do I have to stop taking my current medications for this trial?

The trial information does not specify whether you need to stop taking your current medications. It seems unlikely that you would need to stop, as the study focuses on parent-education programs rather than medical treatments.

What prior data suggests that these program delivery methods are safe for participants?

Research has shown that the Thrive Initiative's programs for educating parents are generally safe and easy to manage. These programs enhance parenting skills and support families, potentially improving children's mental health. No reports of serious problems have been linked to these programs. Both the online-only and mixed online/in-person versions of the Thrive Initiative are designed to be user-friendly and beneficial for parents and caregivers. Participants can confidently join these educational programs, assured of their safety.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Researchers are excited about the Thrive Initiative Parent-Education Programming because it offers innovative approaches to improving parenting and child wellbeing. Unlike traditional parenting programs that might focus on in-person workshops or classes, the online-only version provides flexibility and accessibility, allowing parents to engage with the material at their own pace from the comfort of their home. Meanwhile, the hybrid version combines the convenience of online learning with the added support of weekly group meetings, which can be attended in-person or virtually, fostering a sense of community and shared learning. These unique delivery methods are designed to accommodate diverse parenting needs and lifestyles, potentially reaching a broader audience and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the program.

What evidence suggests that this trial's program delivery methods could be effective for parenting and child wellbeing?

Research has shown that the Thrive Initiative's programs for parents improve parenting skills and increase understanding of child development. In this trial, participants will join one of two treatment arms: the Online-Only Thrive Initiative Parent-Education Programming Condition or the Hybrid Thrive Initiative Parent-Education Programming Condition. Studies have found that these programs strengthen bonds between parents and children. They enhance parenting practices and teach effective techniques. Thrive aims to reduce mental health issues in children by promoting positive parenting strategies. Overall, these programs are well-regarded for supporting the well-being of both parents and children.16789
