What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial tests a virtual program designed to help people with advanced cancer manage stress and improve their quality of life. Participants join seven weekly group sessions that teach techniques like mindfulness and gratitude to ease anxiety and fatigue. The sessions occur online, enabling patients to connect and support each other. Suitable candidates have advanced cancer, experience significant distress, and can participate online.

As an unphased trial, this study provides a unique opportunity for patients to access supportive care that could enhance their well-being.

What prior data suggests that this Virtual Group Resilient Living Program is safe for cancer patients?

Research has shown that the Virtual Group Resilient Living Program (RLP) is generally safe for participants. Studies on similar programs have not identified any major safety issues. Participants typically find these programs manageable, experiencing no serious side effects. This is expected, as the program focuses on teaching stress management and resilience skills, which are non-invasive and unlikely to cause harm. Overall, the RLP appears to be a safe option for those seeking to manage anxiety, reduce stress, and improve quality of life while dealing with advanced cancer.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Researchers are excited about the Virtual Group Resilient Living Program for cancer patients because it offers a unique approach by focusing on mental and emotional resilience through virtual group sessions. Unlike traditional treatments that primarily address physical symptoms, this program emphasizes well-being and quality of life by incorporating online modules, journaling, and group discussions. The convenience of virtual sessions allows for broader accessibility, enabling participants to engage in a supportive community without geographical barriers. This holistic approach aims to empower patients, potentially improving their overall health outcomes and life satisfaction.

What evidence suggests that the Virtual Group Resilient Living Program is effective for improving quality of life in cancer patients?

Research has shown that the Virtual Group Resilient Living Program (RLP), which participants in this trial will receive, benefits people with advanced cancer. Studies have found that it reduces anxiety and stress and improves quality of life. Participants reported better sleep and increased resilience, enabling them to bounce back from challenges more easily. Early results suggest the program lessens fatigue, a common issue for cancer patients. Overall, the RLP provides valuable support and coping tools for these individuals.13678
