What is the purpose of this trial?

A research study to assess the baseline olfactory function, mental health status, clinical severity, and immunological profile in patients with smell loss. The impact of a 3-month olfactory training program on smell function, immunological changes, and mental health in patients with smell loss will be evaluated.

The primary purpose of this study is to investigate tissue and blood samples to identify molecules that may be related to smell loss, ultimately aiming to develop future treatments for this condition and correlate with cognition.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for people who have lost their sense of smell, including those with nasal or sinus cancer, anomia (trouble naming objects), or sinusitis. Participants should be adults willing to undergo smell training and provide tissue and blood samples.

Inclusion Criteria

I am younger than 18 years old.
I have lost my sense of smell, not due to injury or tumor.
I have chronic sinusitis with nasal polyps.

Exclusion Criteria

I am younger than 18 years old.
I have an autoimmune disease.
I have a diagnosed ciliary disorder.

  • Smell Training

Trial Overview

The study tests whether a 3-month smell training program can improve the sense of smell, immune response, and mental health in people with olfactory loss. Researchers will also analyze tissue and blood samples to find related molecules.
