AVA Lenses for Refractive Errors
(ATLANTIC Trial)
What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
This trial tests two types of spectacle lenses to determine which one more effectively improves vision and quality of life. Participants will wear each type of lens for two weeks, with a break in between. The trial compares Essilor® AVA™ lenses with standard lenses to assess which provides better visual performance. Individuals who currently wear glasses, have good vision with those glasses, and experience refractive errors (such as nearsightedness or farsightedness) might be suitable for this trial. Participants must be willing to wear each pair of glasses for at least six hours a day throughout the trial. As an unphased trial, this study allows participants to contribute to innovative research that could enhance vision care for many.
Do I have to stop taking my current medications for the trial?
The trial information does not specify whether you need to stop taking your current medications. It seems focused on evaluating spectacle lenses, so it's unlikely that your medications would be affected.
What prior data suggests that these spectacle lenses are safe for improving visual performance?
Research shows that AVA Lenses are generally well-tolerated by users. Previous studies found no serious side effects. These lenses improve vision by correctly focusing light on the retina, similar to regular glasses, making it easier to see clearly. This similarity suggests they are safe for most people.
Although AVA Lenses are new, their function mirrors that of regular glasses lenses, indicating likely safety. Testing these lenses in a trial without a specific phase focuses on enhancing effectiveness and user satisfaction, rather than solely assessing basic safety.12345Why are researchers excited about this trial?
Unlike standard corrective lenses for refractive errors, which primarily focus on improving visual acuity, Essilor® AVA™ lenses are designed to optimize both vision clarity and comfort. These lenses incorporate advanced technology to provide a more personalized correction, potentially enhancing overall visual performance. Researchers are excited about Essilor® AVA™ lenses because they might offer superior adaptation and comfort compared to standard lenses, addressing common complaints such as eye strain and discomfort. This innovation could lead to a significant improvement in the quality of life for individuals with refractive errors.
What evidence suggests that AVA Lenses could be effective for refractive errors?
Research has shown that Essilor® AVA™ lenses might improve vision compared to regular lenses. In this trial, participants will use both Essilor® AVA™ lenses and standard lenses in separate phases. Studies have found that Essilor® AVA™ lenses can enhance visual clarity and increase eye comfort. Users report that the eye exam is easier and less stressful than usual. These lenses offer precise vision correction, potentially improving quality of life. This evidence suggests that Essilor® AVA™ lenses could be an excellent option for those with vision problems.12678
