What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial tests a new treatment called HiCM-188 for individuals with congestive heart failure undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery. The researchers aim to determine the safety and effectiveness of this stem cell therapy. Participants will receive one dose of HiCM-188 directly into their heart during surgery, with two different dose levels under evaluation. This trial suits adults with severe heart failure already scheduled for bypass surgery. As a Phase 1, Phase 2 trial, the research focuses on understanding the treatment's effects in people and measuring its effectiveness in an initial, smaller group, offering participants the chance to be among the first to benefit from this innovative therapy.

Is there any evidence suggesting that HiCM-188 Cell Therapy is likely to be safe for humans?

Earlier studies have shown that HiCM-188 is safe. Over more than five years of monitoring, HiCM-188 caused neither cancer nor other serious side effects. Patients with severe heart conditions tolerated the treatment well. This suggests that HiCM-188 is safe for people with advanced heart failure. However, ongoing research aims to confirm these results.12345

Why do researchers think this study treatment might be promising for heart failure?

Researchers are excited about HiCM-188 cell therapy because it offers a new approach to treating congestive heart failure. Unlike standard treatments that often rely on medications like ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers, or diuretics to manage symptoms, HiCM-188 involves a direct injection of specialized cells into the heart muscle. This cell therapy aims to regenerate damaged heart tissue, potentially improving heart function in a way that current medications cannot. Additionally, the treatment is administered during coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery, which could integrate well with existing surgical procedures, potentially enhancing recovery outcomes.

What evidence suggests that HiCM-188 might be an effective treatment for heart failure?

Research shows that HiCM-188 uses special stem cells called iPSCs to repair damaged heart tissue. These cells have shown promise in studies by regenerating heart muscle and improving heart function. In this trial, participants will receive either a low or high dose of HiCM-188 during coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery. Early results from similar treatments suggest they can help the heart pump more effectively, which is vital for people with heart failure. The aim is to increase survival rates and improve the quality of life for those with severe heart conditions. While more research is needed, using iPSCs offers hope for better heart health outcomes.25678

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?
