What is the purpose of this trial?
This preregistration documents an experiment examining the effects of acute stress and social context on alcohol-related decision-making. The study uses a 2x2 factorial design (stress vs. control × social vs. alone) with dyadic recruitment.

This trial is for adults who drink alcohol at least once a week and sometimes binge drink (4+ drinks for women, 5+ for men in one sitting at least monthly).Inclusion Criteria

Trial Overview
The study looks at how stress and being with others or alone affect decisions to drink more alcohol. Participants are randomly assigned to different combinations of stress and social settings.

These participants will undergo a stress induction and will make decisions about consuming alcohol with a known peer.
